The Korean update...

Well, here is my first attempt at a Korean update and while the caps are fine, working out which order the English language version of their names is frustrating as it's different in so many ways. Ah well, I hope they're right...
You probably know Yunjim Kim from Lost, but she's also done a bunch of Korean film, including the excellent action/romantic drama Shiri (with the great Min-sik Choi from Oldboy. I'm surprised Hollywood haven't remade it) and the two films featured in this update. Ardour is an adultery drama that seriously drags and ends terribly and Yunjin barely smiles throughout, but she does show a bit of skin and a blink and you'll miss show of her nipple :) And the sex scenes are quite lengthy (one is 8:40 and I edit it from 11 minutes...). Seven Days is a ridculously fast paced kidnap/courtroom thriller (the director's being taking notes from Tony Scott...) where Yunjin dominates the film. It has some really good scenes, but the plot is so over the top that you just have to go with it, but it's not bad.
I suggest you look for the poster of A Good Lawyer's Wife as it sums up the film perfectly. It's basically Moon So-ri naked, with a black square covering up the good bits (and featuring the name of the film). The film doesn't skimp on the frank sex and nude scenes, but the film is also an interesting look at two people in a bad marriage and what happens to their relationship when their adopted son is murdered. Worth a look if you can find it, but it's confronting.
Finally, No Mercy for the Rude is an excellent action film about a mute hitman who is given the job of killing a corrupt doctor who is inadvertedly helping the hitman get his speech back. Also he inadvertedly gets a wife and son. Sounds ridiculous, but it's a lot of fun and I enjoyed it.
Enjoy the Korean update!

Update for 28 March...

I've know I've been a bit slow with the updates lately, but I'm still doing the same amount as usual, just not releasing them as often. Don't think there's enough in this update, look out for another update on Sunday, this time featuring Korean actresses and I've just checked and there's more collages than in this update!
Wasn't going to cap Love (And Other Disasters), but I came across a copy and there's plenty of underwear action and even some Jessica Alba patented side boob (see my caps and videos from Fantastic 4, Good Luck Chuck and Awake for further details). Funnily enough, I didn't hate this film, it had a few laughs and is an enjoyable rom-com. I'll hand my balls in at the door now...
Talking about Jessica Alba, no such side boob from her in this film, but plenty of body double action which I omitted from the caps, but left in the video. Face it guys, she ain't gonna show us the goods (not that she has to, but you know, wouldn't mind a look :D), but they keep getting her in utterly pointless nude scenes and she doesn't pony up. Oh, that's right, The Eye is an OK remake of the excellent Hong Kong original.
Jumper is a good idea badly handled. Somebody decided that the action scenes had to be so frantic that they are practically unwatchable. I'd suggest it's Doug Liman, who did the same in Mr and Mrs Smith. Then there's the fact that the bad guys, who have no skills keep coming up with something out of nowhere to catch the jumpers. The rules (if there are any?) seem to be made up as it went along, which is problematic. Ah well...
The Bet is an surprisingly good corporate thriller about two blokes who make a bet of $100,000 to see who would make the most money in 3 months. And of course, the corporate laws are first skirted then flat out broken. Watching them gamble with other people's money is pretty engrossing, even if I didn't fully understand...
More on Sunday.

The next Spanish update

Technically, this update could've started last Tuesday with Love in the Time of Cholera, but today it's officially that time of the year again. Yes, it's the Spanish update. Those of you who have been to my site for a while would know this already, that I love Spanish/Latin women, have for a very long time. But, because I live in Australia, I don't get to see too many Spanish films, but when I do, I'm there front row centre.
First up is Oculto, an underrated Spanish thriller about a woman (Angie Cepeda) who is trying to make sense of her dreams. She meets two people, a man, who's really only trying to get her into bed but helps her when he can and a woman (Laia Marull), who seemingly knows more about her dreams. But as we go along, we find out she knows a helluva lot more about the dream woman to the point of obsession. The story is well told and gripping but the final scene of the film is the clincher. It is quite, well disturbing...
Natalia Verbeke is one of my faves and I hadn't seen her in a film for a while, so it was nice to see her again, even in a by-the-numbers slapstick comedy. She looks great in the one piece in this film... She's also in El Metodo with Nawja Nimri, another slapstick comedy about a group of people vying for a choice job with a big company. This film is much better than El Juego de la Verdad even if it is a bit stagey.
Boy oh boy is The Virgin of Lust a tough film to get through. At two and a half hours this Mexican film about the relationship between a waiter and a prostitute and the goings on in their lives is delibately slow paced and the story is fairly uninvolving, so I've struggled through it, this time for a second time... I might have more of Ariadna Gil in the next few days if I get around to it as she is a bit of fave since 'Malena is the Name of a Tango'. You might've seen her as the mother of the little girl in the brilliant Pan's Labyrinth.
Finally, Princesas (Princesses) is a film about two women (Candela Pena and Micaela Nevarez) in the prostitution game and their various experiences. It's not a bad film, but it does seem to gloss over the ugly side of prostitution. The early scene with Candela walking around bottomless is definitely worth a look. I have Torremolinos 73 sitting on my hard drive (with Candela) that I might get around to capping soon. Now that's a bizarre little film that's worth a look. All I can say about the plot is 'European sex education films in the 70s' :D

Quick update for today, seeing as though I didn't put anything up on the weekend.
Love in the Time of Cholera is adapted from a novel considered a classic, but I pretty sure the film won't be considered in the same way. I haven't read the book, but it seems to be badly adapted, many of the character's motivations seem sudden and unrealistic. And the romance didn't really seem engaging. But, there's plenty great actors doing their best with the material and of course, plenty of beautiful women as you will see below.
